Forgiveness

if someone does the same things over and over again and says sorry and then does it again and you point out that their apologies don't mean anything anymore, then they accuse you of not being forgiving enough, who is in the wrong?

(i mean as in constantly over a long period of time).

im trying to work out whether it was just part of the persons mental/ emotional manipulation tactics or whether i have the wrong view and i'm not forgiving enough.

The WT had articles that always talked about how the nice people should forgive the insensitive, stubborn and mean JW's. They put the onus on the ones that did care about others to suck it up and "keep the peace" in the congregations, by always turning the other cheek.

That encouraged some to expect forgiveness without saying it or by just giving a token Sorry. I took turning the other cheek as something a "good" person would do. So I did. But, found myself being taken advantage of also or finding myself silently fuming over having to forgive over and over again. The WT makes it a sin to not to forgive even when the person does it over and over again. Let's see, "how many times must I forgive my brother? Up to seventy seven times" The WT wants you to do it regardless. How many articles on taking to task the offenders? Probably zero. That is my guess.

Don't allow others to guilt you into forgiving them and then letting them wipe their feet on you. Not good for you or them. I had a "friend" that started to break promises. It became more and more by my forgiving them. They just expected me to always be their friend even if they abused the meaning.

were are they now and what position are they in.. lets do a running count.. c.o.b.e was interfering with his daughter,d.f,reinstated died in good standing.. branch oveersear multiple young children d.f,reinstated in good standing.. publisher interfeared with small child in the k.h d.f not sure were he is.. publisher sexually abused 3 relatives no action taken in good standing.. current elder raped his sister years ago little action taken was not an elder at the time.. publisher sexualy abused young girl d.f,reinstater now in good standing.. m.s multiple young girls d.f,died trying to get reinstated.. so thats 7.. karter..

There was one in my congregation. He got away with meeting up with a young girl on the internet because of money in the family paying out. Married a 14 -15 year old from another country.

i was very lucky to have be dating somebody who didn’t run and snitch on me when i started having questions and showing him research i did, instead he listened to me, and after a few arguements, he did wake up as well.

it really didn’t take much to wake him up, and he was more just tired of the crazy witnesses in general.

and now we are planning on getting married and fading together so that our families can at least enjoy our wedding, that special time in life, before we possibly loose them one day.

It sounds like you are a little jealous that he doesn't have to do the amount of work towards his family or the org. So you are frustrated and annoyed all at the same time. It is mentally exhausting to live a lie and there are many here on the forum that can give better advice than I on that.

Sorry for your present problems, but you are far ahead of others whose families are still in.

A lot of these rules are about keeping men in the organization or protecting them.

Homosexual acts don't constitute adultery and neither does bestiality.

Unfortunately for the wife, she could end up with diseases from her husband shagging a sheep. There must have been enough of that going on for them to write about it.

Growing Up Strange (even for a JW)

i've been meaning to join an online ex-jw community for quite some time, and finally have made the effort to do so.

i was raised in a small/mid size city in the northeast united states.

i am currently 27 years old, just about five years fully out of the organization (after about two years of "fading" away).

Hi. It's always interesting to hear how others lived in "the truth" I think it's a common thread of how parents and children live in two different worlds at the same time.

I was always desperate to escape in some means from my life of "the truth" Like your family, my mother was a JW from when I was around 4. My father didn't bother to have a hand in raising us in any religion because he didn't like God. So my mother took all four of us girls to the meeting. My brother didn't have to go because he was a boy and my father was going to raise him. It sucks that my father who I wanted to save me from the meetings, wasn't interested in females.

Your story of the friend's party is so sad because it is like a life preserver in the water waiting for you and it's pushed away by your mom. Friendships in school that others have for all their lives, are denied by the WT.

Just a cruel and inhuman organization that steals children's lives and makes them live as outcasts.

Cotton wool jws

there was a talk i heard recently given by a top bethel bro, he was complaining that the type of young jws that have been joining bethel in recent years has been totally unfit for work or even life.

he called them "cotton wool jws" as he says that the parents of these young ones have kept them so sheltered from life that by the time they are of age to strike out on their own they are completely unable to cope socially, emotionally, mentally and that they have no practical life's skills or instincts of common sense or responsibility.

he said that the brothers at bethel have to work at peeling off the layers of cotton wool these ones have come wrapped in and that often when exposed to the reality of life away from mummy they quite literally go running back home.. for once i actually agree with a brother on the platform, i've met many a young teen or young adult whose life has been one long warm bath as it were.

On the other hand, someone posted what it is like in BetHELL. I wouldn't want to work there either. They recounted the story of a young man that didn't want to be there but his parents refused to let him come home. He ran away once or twice I think. He eventually jumped off the roof.

i have been out a good 10+ years and until recently didnt pay much attention to what the jehovahs are up to.. why have they taken this turn with the bunker videos and making all the brainwashed people like my parents pack a go bag.

now let me just clarify.

im a military man i believe everyone should have an element of preparedness canned goods,bottled water and a bug out bag is a great addition ( ill stop waffling on about that now).. but what concerns me is the fact they are advising elderly people to bug out.

Caleb and Sophia - tools of the WT to guilt and scare the kids with.

My still in younger sister and her husband, visited their disassociated daughter's children. Without telling the mom or father (who isn't a witness) they showed them the "Sparlock" episode of Caleb. It's where Caleb's mom tells him his new toy is magical and does God like people who play with something that Satan is behind? She shows him a picture of Adam and Eve, all old and near death who disobeyed God and look what happened to them. He ends up throwing the toy away.

The two children came back home, crying their eyes out. Why? They were going to have to throw away their My Little Ponies cause they were magical.

The WT is evil and enjoys scaring children into obedience with threat of death.
